Learning Objectives

This MA degree has the following formative aims:

  • developing communicative linguistic competence in two foreign languages;
  • providing practical tools for the management of communication in multilingual and multicultural contexts;
  • providing theoretical tools for an in-depth reflection on communicative and intercultural dynamics.

Those who enroll can select of the following curricula:

  • Languages for teaching purposes and cultural institutions (DEC)

Graduates will acquire glottodidactic and cultural skills and abilities to work effectively in the professional fields of lifelong language education and training, academic research, and within institutions in the linguistic-cultural field.

  • Languages for the management of international brands (BRIN)

Graduates will acquire linguistic, cultural and managerial skills to operate effectively in the management of internationalization processes of international companies and brands.

Languages for the Professions in a Global Context (LM-37 R)

The course trains professionals in the fields of cultural services, publishing, companies, and public and private institutions. Work activities may include: organization of cultural events, linguistic consultancy, educational training aimed at learning foreign languages ​​and literatures, linguistic facilitation, SWOT analysis of foreign markets, planning and implementation of interventions aimed at the internationalization of companies and management of multicultural personnel, management of international brands.

All courses are taught in conventional offline mode, with innovative teaching methods and with the support of digital platforms and IT tools. Language skills are improved through language exercises with expert native speakers at the University Language Centre.

Attendance is not mandatory.

 

In the DEC curriculum, which is dedicated to teaching and cultural institutions, students perfect their knowledge of and competence in the two foreign languages ​​of choice (the options are French, English, Russian, Spanish and German). In addition to perfecting their linguistic skills with collaborators and native language experts, they study didactic and metalinguistic issues relating to each specific language. Their training includes philological, historical and literary courses, and courses in digital technologies and innovative teaching. The second year includes a Digital Humanities laboratory and a free choice course.

 

In the BRIN curriculum, which is dedicated to international brand management, students perfect their knowledge of and competence in the two foreign languages ​​of choice (the options are Chinese, French, English, Spanish and German). In addition to perfecting their linguistic skills with native language collaborators and experts, they study didactic and metalinguistic issues relative to corporate communication in each language of choice. The programme includes cultural and historical courses, and courses on international branding, marketing and corporate communication in social media. The second year includes a free elective course and an internship at institutions or companies.

  • Many courses include seminars and meetings with external teachers and national and international professionals.
  • The compulsory training internship (BRIN curriculum) and the Digital Humanities Laboratory (DEC curriculum) facilitate the acquisition of specific and cross-professional skills, and guide future career choices.
  • 5 six-month international mobility grants are available to take part in the European Master in Intercultural Communication, a network of European universities specialized in teaching intercultural communication.

Enrolment is reserved for BA graduates with advanced knowledge of two foreign languages: a C1 level is required for French, English and Spanish, a B2 level for German and a B1 level for Chinese and Russian.

These levels can be testified to by presenting one’s degree certificate or by means of language certificates obtained from recognized Institutes and Certification Bodies.
