Webinar (webinar internazionale, in lingua inglese)
Covid-19. Supernational, national and regional responses. Building resilience through comparison of experiences
Programma
The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge the World has faced since World War II. Since its emergence in Asia in late 2019, the virus has spread to every continent. Countries are trying to slow down the spread of the virus by testing and treating patients, carrying out contact tracing, limiting travel, quarantining citizens, and cancelling social events and gatherings, limiting economic activities and closing schools. Although vaccines have been developed to counteract COVID-19, a long time will be needed before the World population may be vaccinated at a sufficient level. COVID-19 is much more than a health crisis: it has the potential to create devastating social, economic and political crises that will leave deep scars.
In order to analyse Government and more generally public responses to Covid-19, a global webinar has been organised by the Global Pandemic Network (GPN), an international network in the field of human sciences, aimed at bringing together academics as well as distinguished experts, with a view to mutually exchange research and information on pandemics, engage in deep-rooted discussions and bring forward solutions for decision-makers based on analysis of best practices and comparison of experiences.
The rapporteurs will briefly provide the national or regional or supranational taken, taking account of the national constitutional and legal rules on emergencies, of the general measures and main steps adopted, of the impact of such measures on rights of citizens, working conditions, the economic system, the activity of the public administration, and its impact on the judicial system.
