1, to remap Anglo-American literature from the perspective of sound; 2, students will deepen their knowledge of literary texts and their cultural contexts, focusing on Early America; 3, students will be able to deliver a lesson on a literary subject.

During these weeks we shall plunge into a relatively recent field of research  called "soundscape studies" and shall apply it to Anglo-American literature. Period of study: the 17th and 18th centuries. Areas: poetry, fiction. Other disciplines & instruments involved: ecocriticism, text analysis, neurosciences. All students will also be trained to get a general good knowledge of Anglo-American literary history and main criticism.

A general basic knowledge of Anglo-American Liìterature 

Apply their knowledge, understanding, and problem solving within multidisciplinary contexts related to their field of study; reflect on cultural and literary topics and formulate judgements; communicate to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously; become largely self-directed or autonomous in studies and research work; express original ideas. Prepare for deliver lessons in class.

Part 1 - ll students are asked to read a text of their choice and to deliver a paper on it during the course (part 1 of the exam, 15 minutes each).

Part 2 of the exam will be written, and will take place during the normal sessions.
