From Informal Practices to Platforms: Local Welfare in the Digital Age
Abstract dell'evento
Social work, traditionally rooted in deep and complex interpersonal and informal relationships, is undergoing a profound transformation due to the advent of digital technologies. Online platforms, with their algorithms and interfaces, are redefining the way services are delivered, introducing a new level of structure and formalization to traditionally more informal practices. From case assignment to data management, digital platforms are optimizing processes, improving transparency, and expanding access to services. At the same time, they pose new challenges related to balancing the humanization of the user relationship with the efficiency of IT systems. The seminar will explore the opportunities and complexities of this evolution, analyzing how digital platforms are challenging social work and what impacts they will have on the quality of services and people's lives.
