Learning Objectives
The objectives of this course are to: A) have participants get used to collaborating with their peers in dealing with an assignment given by the instructor B) give students an opportunity to prepare and do a brief presentation in English on a topic of their choice, pertaining to their field of study C) introduce written texts and audio and video materials (as close as possible to a B2 level according to the CEFR) that can have practical applications in students’ field of study D) familiarize students with the structure and functions of the scientific abstract E) build vocabulary used in the field of sports science.
Program
During the internship, fundamental characteristics of scientific English will be identified and analyzed to develop students’ comprehension skills. The characteristics will be explored through activities involving articles and abstracts, videos and podcasts, having to do with sports science and health topics. Particular attention will be given . to develop speaking skills and presentations.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
At the end of the internship, participants must: A) know how to collaborate with others in dealing with assignments B) do a brief presentation on a topic of their choice in the field of sports science C) know how to understand texts, audio and video content, reaching a level as close to B2 (CEFR) as possible D) know and comprehend the structure of the scientific abstract and its functions E) know the scientific lexicon presented during the course.

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
Guided laboratory activities. Some presentations will be lectures, especially when sector-specific language is introduced.

Attendance is mandatory.
- Course books
A booklet of materials and links to materials will be provided and uploaded onto the Moddle platform.
- Assessment
Student evaluation will be based on classwork, personal assignments to be done outside the classroom, effort shown in the preparation and presentation of a topic of interest and, in general, on achievement and participation.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
