Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide the theoretical and practical knowledge of analytical techniques to check the purity of relevant compounds and pharmaceutics described in the Official European Pharmacopoeia.
Program
Introduction to the quantitative drug analysis. Lab equipment, materials and reagents. Preparation and dilution of solution. Volumetric analysis: Acid-base titration, Redox titration, Complexometric titration. Gravimetric analysis. Purity check of relevant compounds following the Official European Pharmacopoeia. Quantitative analysis of Pharmaceutics.
Bridging Courses
- General and Inorganic Chemistry to follow the lab.
- Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Medical Statistic with Foundations of Math for the exam.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
- The student must show the possession of basic skills related to General, Inorganic, Analytical and Organic Chemistry.
- The student must apply the acquired analytical techniques to the determination of relevant compounds and pharmaceutics.
- The student must show the ability to write a lab report
