The main purpose of the course is to provide the students with the knowledge and skills to understand the fundamentals and the main rules of the LAW TRAINING FOR THE EMPLOYABILITY. It is a specific branch of the legal system that refers to the “on the job” learning experiences. These experiences do not consist of employment relationships, and their main aim is to promote the knowledge and expertise acquired through the education process. Furthermore, they aim at helping the students in their job choices and facilitating their access to job positions. These aspects are crucial to carry out, with balance and competence, any of the professional activities at which this course prepares to (i.e. labour consultant, operator in a job centre, work agency, etc).

The programme of the course is based on the analysis and jurisprudential interpretation of the main training tools that encourage the employability – i.e. extracurricular internships, curricular internships, “school to work” apprenticeships, professional internships, special internships (such as the ones at the Courts). These will be examined in the light of the legislative framework.

Knowledge and understanding

This course provides the student with:

-  thorough knowledge and understanding of the legal fundamentals;

-  detailed knowledge on the main rules of the LAW TRAINING FOR THE EMPLOYABILITY at the international, European and national level;

-  knowledge about the skills and tools aimed at training for the employability;

-  ability to understand aims, backgrounds and effects of job training policies;

-  ability to draft legal documents in the field of training for the employability.

Applied knowledge and understanding

This course provides the student with:

-  ability to interpret and apply the rules of the legal system about training for the employability;

-  ability to search by using a database, and to understand and use legal sources about training for the employability and the relative jurisprudence.

The knowledge of these skills will be tested through the following ways: exercises on case laws; final exams of each course; assessment of internships and other training experiences organised within the course.

Making judgements

The course provides the student with the

ability to interpret and analyse case studies and to define the relation between facts and case laws.  The aim is to enable the student to identify, represent and solve problems related to the application of the legal tools of training for employability.  The course will also prepare the student for the drafting of a clear, relevant and effective legislative text.

Communication skills

The course provides the student with:

ability to describe and investigate legal problems related to LAW TRAINING FOR THE EMPLOYABILITY; ability to discuss such topics with institutional and professional subjects, with potential clients or interested parties; ability to illustrate the logical-legal paths that lead to the solution of the theoretical and practical problems; ability to develop arguments and confidently discuss them, also by using cross-examination with other qualified subjects.

Learning skills

The course provides the student with:

the basic tools for updating skills in LAW TRAINING FOR THE EMPLOYABILITY; ability to understand the complexity of legal phenomena in the field of training experiences; ability to deal with the evolution of the LAW TRAINING FOR THE EMPLOYABILITY (work jurisprudence of merit and legitimacy) and deepen it using all the knowledge acquired during the course.

Teaching

The teaching will be delivered in the form of lectures and laboratories. After an introduction to the general framework, the lessons will be based on reading and analysing several training tools and discussing the related issues.

Assessment

Students will have the right to take the final test, which is going to be an oral exam, and they will be asked to discuss the themes addressed in the manual mentioned above. The form of the examination will make it easier to evaluate in more complete manner the student’s knowledge, communicational /analytical skills and critical faculties.

The evaluation will be made upon three or more questions addressed to the student. The assessment criteria and the scores will follow the following rating scale:

- less than 18/30 - Insufficient level: the student didn’t meet any of the expected learning outcomes;

- 18-20/30 - sufficient level: the candidate achieves, in particular, the learning outcomes provided for in "knowledge and understanding skills";

- 21-23/30 - Sufficient level: the student meets the expected learning outcomes regarding “knowledge and comprehension” skills and he’s able to apply them;

- 24-26/30 – Good performance: the student meets the expected  learning outcomes regarding the “knowledge and comprehension” and he’s able to apply them and to make autonomous assessments;

- 27-29/30 - Very good performance: the student meets the expected learning outcomes regarding the “knowledge and comprehension” skills, he’s able to apply them and to make autonomous assessment in regards of it and has good communication skills;

- 30- 30 cum laude - Excellent performance: the student fully meets the learning outcomes expected, displaying a high level of command of all aspects of the relevant material and shows a great ability to learn.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

In the Department is active Olympus, the Observatory for permanent monitoring of legislation and case law on health and safety in the workplace work. The Observatory carries out various activities including, in particular: - the management of a website with legislative databases, case law databases and databases of contracts, all concerning the safety at work; - depth articles, specialized reviews and thematic focus; - the management of an online scientific journal - "The Working Papers of Olympus", now “Law of occupational Safety and Health" (DSL) - in the field of security rights in the workplace, with ISSN, that employs a wide international scientific committee and refereeing procedures for the identification of essays to be published; - the organization of congresses and seminars including international ones. This observatory, whose website is freely accessible to all in a logic of public service, allows students of the CdS to find useful materials and documentation for their course of study and useful to draft their dissertation.
