Learning Objectives

The course aims to provide the most up-to-date knowledge on the methodologies currently used for the technical, tactical and physical preparation of sports in general, both for the senior and young sector as well as the methodological, didactic and technical skills to be able to practically apply these knowledges to every sporting contexts, and specifically to apply an objective assessment of individuals and of the work proposed with analytical references to the most advanced technological tools for a real objective assessment of performance, in line with demands of the world of work and the new figure of the Sport Analyst, or match analyst.

Program

Introduction of the new figure of the sports analyst/match analyst

Technical and Tactical Match Analysis by a scientific nature

Evolution and training project work based on performance in accordance with the parameters drawn thanks to new dedicated technological instruments.

Acquisition tools and performative data. From GPS to inertial sensors up to Sport Vu and its evolution to the "14 cameras" system.

Big Data, machine learning and artificial intelligence.

The sport specific model as a basis for a work project (PPM).

Individualized work in single-based sports and also as a need for collective work in team sports.

Fundamental elements related to performance

The effects of performance analysis in the preventive field.

BIOMECHANICAL ANALYSIS OF WORK

Elements of computer engineering applied to sport

The basics of biomechanics applied to sports evaluation

Some "case studies" of various individual and collective sports.

The objective evaluation contextualized to the proposed work

THE METHOD

Notational Analysis: Systematic analytical monitoring, SAM ("MAS")

The constant review of work planning (flexible work) through continuous monitoring and research

Experimental research

The design of the work model according to specific requests: first band (12-15 years) and second band (16-20 years) as well as the senior activity at the various levels.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Knowledge and understanding:

At the end of the course, the students will have acquired the theoretical knowledge of the main functional characteristics and the ability to understand the specific contents and problems of technological and informatic equipment dedicated to sports and their objective evaluation.

The students, with the possibility of using the state-of-the-art instruments subject to the topic of performance analysis, will be able to use the actual most used instrumentations with full knowledge of the facts, inside the laboratory and in the pitch (applying knowledge and understanding)

Making judgements: The student will have developed a sufficient critical capacity to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the means of evaluation and training in relation to the objectives set, well knowing how to modulate the entity of the evaluation intervention according to of the cases that the world of work presented to him.

The student will learn how to create a positive relationship with individuals (athletes), even with adequate explanatory knowledge, to explain, demonstrate and correct the movement, to support and motivate the training proposal according to any corrective interventions based on the parameters derived from the scientific survey . Communication skills.

Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired a good autonomy in the search for study materials with reference to the topics of the course, also acquiring a good critical capacity on the specific literature. Ability to learn (learning skills)

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Supporting Activities

During the course, elements of computer engineering related to the preparation of software and hardware dedicated to sports will be addressed, albeit in a basic way, to better interpret the evaluation elements of the activity proposed in training and competitions; these elements will be treated by engineers of a well-known computerized sports scouting company, world leader in football (K-Sport, Ita). A short session of self-assessment tests will also be proposed to allow students to detect any gaps created during the course. Finally, at least two, if possible three seminars dedicated to case studies on the subject treated by established professionals in the sector will be proposed.

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment

Teaching

Lectures, national and international webinars/seminars and practical exercises. Active observation in streaming, where not possible in presence, of top-level sports realities regarding the application of the principles of modern performance analysis.

Innovative teaching methods

Non-directive debate but with equal listening to the basics acquired by the students, in groups of different numerical conformation of training, gender and individually in the classroom and in the field. "Problem based learning", from a concept traced back to the contextualization of the practical teaching method useful for achieving the objective at a basic and advanced working level. "Learning by doing", dealing with problem solving situations starting from the idea of a practical problem, and essentially establishing the training or reconstructive work protocol, work in groups in sessions held in external and/or in professional settings. with contextualization of the use of scientific-technological instruments of the sector. Solving problems applied to the methodological field of sports, in the classroom and possibly in the field or in streaming in a certain level of work such as youth with personal management of the latest generation assessment tools.

Attendance

We suggest a "knowledge" on the basic components of information technology related to "tracking", individual tracking, derived from satellite systems (GPS, Beidou, Glonass, Galileo) as well as inertial and wide band sensors.

Course books

Basic lecture: "Analysis of sports performance-Riccardo Izzo

For more further information, we recommend:

-Research and teaching: movement analysis and new technologies, Giuseppe Baldassarre, Guida Ed. and in this case: for chap. paragraphs 1: 1.1, 1.2.1, for chap 2: all paragraphs, for chap 3: paragraphs 3.1, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1.5, 3.2.1.6, 3.2.2, 3.2.2.4, 3.2.2.5, 3.2,2,6.

-Analysis of performance in team sports, Duarte Araujo, Pedro Passos, Anna Yolossovirch, Calzetti and Mariucci, and in this case: Part 1, all paragraphs; Part 2, chap.6 and 7and 9.

Assessment

For the purpose of ascertaining the preparation at the end of the course the student will have to take an oral evaluation.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Notes

Also given the manual skills in the use of information technology used during the course, it is suggested to deepen the study of the material offered on blended learning on the subject. Of course, everything concerning external or streaming activities could be a problem, so the teacher is available to clarify certain elements covered during student receptions or at times established together.
