The training offer of the French Legal Language course aims to perfect and complete B1 level communication skills, in the context of both written and oral production on topics related to the study courses. The course aims, in fact, to develop the ability to use the French language in purely legal professional contexts, in order to acquire both written and oral production skills, in order to allow students to express themselves in an articulated manner on micro-language topics specifically in legal fields. At the end of the course, students will have acquired good knowledge relating to the French linguistic sphere and the themes developed during the course and will develop the ability to understand authentic written and oral documents, inherent to the contents learned, to explain the concepts that emerged and to express their own point of view, to develop one's own study method to understand the contents covered during the course and evaluate one's level of learning in relation to the objectives set for the B1 level.

Learning the French Legal Language includes content that addresses issues relating to the micro-language and specific legal aspects. In fact, the topics to be addressed will be: "The organization of the people, the political parties, the political rituals, the rôle de l'État, the administrative organization, the regionalisation, the law and the order, the right and justice, l'armé et la police, la France dans l'Europe et dans le monde, la construction européenne, l'avenir européen, l'action internationale, la francophonie: una langue en partage, un pari politique et culturel, l'aide au développement”, furthermore we will proceed with the lecture, translation and commentary of the French Constitution with a comparative analysis with the Italian one.

To be able to take the French language exam including legal language (Level B1), students must have previously obtained a French language qualification from the French language qualification course held at the University Language Center (CLA).

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: at the end of the course the student must have acquired basic knowledge of French legal language. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING (applying knowledge and understanding): the student must be able to use methods and tools suitable for understanding and analyzing French legal terminology as well as capable of understanding a legal text in French. MAKING JUDGMENTS: the student must have acquired the critical ability necessary to evaluate the content of legal texts in French. COMMUNICATION SKILLS (communication skills): the student must be able to argue in French, in written and oral form, what has been learned during the course. ABILITY TO LEARN (learning skills): the student must acquire the skills necessary to study independently to identify and interpret any linguistic - legal variation and to constantly update their knowledge and skills.

Teaching

Attendance at the course is not mandatory, but active participation in the lessons is strongly recommended. During the course, the lectures will be accompanied by practical exercises aimed at understanding legal documents in French.

To be able to take the French language exam including legal language, students must have previously obtained a French language qualification from the French language qualification course held at the University Language Center (CLA). 

The exam consists of an oral test to achieve eligibility.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
