Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Knowledge and understanding
The student will acquire knowledge of the systems currently usable for the geological survey and understand the methodological bases.
His level of knowledge and understanding will be measured by evaluating his language and the correspondence of the methodological bases.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
The course is highly practical. The student will apply his knowledge during all the phases of the course, and at the end, he will have to be able to implement all his acquired skills.
The student must demonstrate that the knowledge acquired is used with feasible applications on the ground and in the laboratory.
Autonomy of judgment
The student will also be able to develop the projects originally, developing skills that will allow them to face unexpected situations and find original solutions.
He must be able to understand whether measurements or data processing are reliable or not.
Communication skills
The student must be able to communicate the results and summaries of the work performed in different ways (reports, presentations, etc.). In addition to individual work, teamwork is important, as students need to communicate with each other. Students will also be encouraged to present their work during external conferences. He must be able to use specific language and possibly be communicable even to non-experts in the field.
Learning ability
Since this branch of computer science applied to geosciences is continuously evolving, the student must be enabled to learn new techniques and methodologies autonomously. The student will have acquired the ability, in the light of his own knowledge, to propose original solutions in the field of tools and methods.
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Supporting Activities
Field workshop: escursions and field mapping lab
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
In-door lectures; digital laboratory, field laboratory
- Innovative teaching methods
Personal and group work in the field and indoors using Information Systems and digital tools.
- Attendance
Even the attendance strongly helps the student, the presence is not mandatory
- Course books
pdf texts from classes (see blended learning web pages)
- Assessment
Individual project and oral examination.
The topic of the individual project has to be agreed with the instructor and it has to be delivered 7 days before examinations. The oral exam consists of a discussion on the project.
The final assessment will be determined by the arithmetical mean of the project grade and examination.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
Additional Information for Non-Attending Students
- Teaching
To be agreed with the professor, according with individual needs
- Attendance
not compulsory
- Course books
pdf texts prepared by professor downloadable from blended learning website
