Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide students with
- an introduction to gender studies
- an overview of gender relations in Italy from the birth of the Republic to the present day, with particular attention to rights from a gender perspective
- an overview of academic life from a gender perspective, as regards access to studies and the study-choices of women and men and as regards the composition of teaching staff. Furthermore, university committees, tools and strategies to prevent and fight discrimination and pursue gender equality will be analysed (Positive Action Plans, CUG, Confidence Counsellor, Psychological Support Services, Gender Equality Plan, Next generationEu).
Program
The course consists of ten lectures on the following topics;
- introduction to gender studies
- history of gender relations in Italy from the birth of the Republic to the present day, with particular attention to rights from a gender perspective
- analysis of academic life from a gender perspective, as regards access to studies and the study-choices of women and men and as regards the composition of teaching staff. Furthermore, university committees, tools and strategies to prevent and fight discrimination and pursue gender equality will be analysed (Positive Action Plans, CUG, Confidence Counsellor, Psychological Support Services, Gender Equality Plan, Next generationEu).
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Course books
Study texts are assigned individually to each participant. More information on this will be provided during the first lesson.
- Assessment
Students are expected to prepare a short report on the assigned study texts. Precise instructions on this will be given during the first lesson.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
