Learning Objectives

The Summer School “The economy as it is and how it can change” is promoted by the Department of Economics, Society and Politics (DESP) at the University of Urbino in collaboration with Sbilanciamoci!, the campaign for alternative economics to which 50 environmental, solidarity and rights associations adhere. The aim of the Summer School “The economy as it is and how it can change” is to offer basic training on economics and economic and social policy matters. The School furthers knowledge on the economic system in Italy and Europe, welfare, the labour market, globalisation and the current Italian and international development model, offering ideas for reflection on policies and changes that can be achieved. The current international crisis, the Europe and Euro issues, real economics and finance, innovative processes and production structures, the labour market, unemployment and job instability, welfare, revenue distribution and inequality are some of the subjects addressed at the Summer School. The aim of the School is to reflect critically on the current national and international economic situation, studying the characteristics of existing economic models, examining the problems of the current crisis and the perspective of a new sustainable development model from an environmental point of view, with a high knowledge content, high employment intensity, able to ensure social integration. The summer school will provide the essential concepts for understanding economic phenomena, presenting ongoing process analysis tools, organising work teams for the discussion of economics policy alternatives.
