Learning Objectives
Themes
The first aim of the course is a reflection about the possible role of the philological disciplines in secondary schools. During the course we will also consider how the substantial absence of a real philological education in the Italian School risks seriously to compromise the ability of the whole educational system to provide answers to some educational emergencies which, if not finally and seriously addressed, risk to become true democratic emergencies. More specifically, the issue will be addressed above all from the point of view of the discipline which in the Italian university system is called Philology and Romance Linguistics. Methodological reflections and concrete case studies will be proposed to demonstrate how the contents, methods and tools that characterize this discipline are fundamental for those who teach in secondary school, as an epistemological structure that brings together in an inseparable nexus (and in a constitutionally comparative dimension) linguistic (synchronic and above all diachronic), comparative study of literatures and study of ecdotic issues related to such literatures.
