Themes
Reading aloud – listening - and analyzing of the best-known texts of the fantastic/fairytale tradition will lead to work on the idea of literary art as a social commitment and of creativity as a positive social interaction, with a focus on the reception and diffusion of interpretations such as means of checking critical readings (Critical reading, creative reading). Perceiving how the history of interpretations of such well-known and reread and rewritten texts connects with the needs of the public and society, some clichés will be deconstructed and topics such as sexism, victimism, racism, aggressive passivity, reversal of positions and that assist the affirmation of fictitious realities and relational manipulation will therefore be "revealed" with an activity that will place students in the position of critics and not just "users". This is also done with a positive dialogue on so-called bibliophobia, one of the most recent manifestations of anxiety linked to splitting of the self. The concept that language, including artistic language, is in itself a "creator of worlds" (social imaginary theories and mind theories are here involved) and the profound and positive belief that we can interact with it, shaping worlds in which violence is creatively condemned, will lead to the autonomous writing of "parodic" fairy tales about model of the great rewritings (starting from Angela Carter’s The Bloody Chamber and Karen Duve’s GRRRRRimm up to the musical Into the Woods) giving students sufficient tools to develop a mental text that has positive reflections both on interaction and on the splitting of the self in relationships.
