The Single-Cycle Master’s Degree Course in Pharmacy, lasting five years, trains a professional figure with expertise in drugs and health-related products. According to Law No. 163 of November 8, 2021, the final examination for the degree also qualifies graduates to practice as pharmacists. Graduates in Pharmacy can work in a wide range of sectors, including the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, nutritional, herbal, diagnostic, and clinical-chemical fields, as well as in the marketing of medical devices and health products.
The primary aim of the course is to prepare professionals able to collaborating with physicians, patients, and healthcare facilities in prevention and treatment, promoting public health through drug monitoring in the community, supporting the implementation of therapies in both territorial and hospital settings, and providing guidance on the proper use of drugs and other health products. Graduates can also act as health educators, offering personalized patient support and providing counseling to healthy individuals for disease prevention (pharmaceutical care). The degree also allows access to first- and second-level Master's programs, specialization schools, and PhD courses, expanding both academic and professional growth opportunities.
The training program provides a solid foundation in basic sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, and medicine), skills in drug preparation and quality control, and knowledge in the biochemical, pharmacological, and nutritional fields. Particular attention is also given to legislative, ethical, economic, and managerial aspects of the profession, as well as the development of critical thinking and continuous learning skills. The course includes practical laboratory activities and a professional internship (900 hours, 30 ECTS credits) to be carried out over six months (extendable up to 24 months) in community or hospital pharmacies. It is also possible to carry out part of the program abroad, including the experimental thesis and internship.
