Seminario
Scientific Programming: Libraries
Abstract dell'evento
The choice of a specific programming framework also depends upon considering which scientific libraries are accessible, namely, which specific algorithms are easily accessible within each framework and how efficiently they are implemented. Although much interoperability is possible, this sometimes comes at the price of a back-and-forth conversion of data structures, which may hamper performance or prevent debugging. This lecture aims to illustrate the options available within some frameworks of common choice, without any aim at completeness, yet trying to convey how one can "stand on the shoulders of giants" in scientific programming, using the existing corpus of codes more consciously.
