Learning Objectives

The course aims at dealing with the philosophical debate on the themes of life, forms, time, space, history and metropolis among authors such as Simmel, Bergson and James. 

Program

  • The tragical conflict between life and forms in Simmel.
  • Space, time, history and metropolis. Simmel's philosophical territory. 
  • Philosophical chiasmus among Simmel, Bergson e James.

With regards to the discipline, the student has to show the possession of:

  • the mastery of basic knowledge;
  • the understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline;
  • the capacity of using skills and concepts according to the logic of the discipline.

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Assessment

Oral exam.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Notes

The three course books conform to the fixed 800 pages.

The Professor is fully available for any agreement with Erasmus foreign students on personalised programmes.
