Learning Objectives
The first part of the course will analyse in detail the major syntactic constructions of English (e.g. interrogative, relative, infinitival sentences), with particular attention to the differences which emerge with respect to Italian. The second part of the course will be devoted to text and discourse analysis, and in particular to cohesion and cohesive devices. Crucially, the theoretical tools adopted for syntactic analysis will be applied to the main categories of text analysis.
