Learning Objectives
The course aims at teaching basic tools of computer science and of statistics which may be useful for analyzing biological data.
Program
Graphics: Frequencies, Bar graphs, Histograms, Pareto chart, Scatterplot, Box Plot;
Measures of location: Mean, Median, Mode, Midrange;
Measures of scatter: Standard deviation, Variance, Range, Mean absolute deviation from the median;
Shape measures: Kurtosis, Asymmetry;
Bivariate analysis: Contingency table, Measures of association, Measures of concordance, Linear interpolation;
Random numbers generation;
Binomial distribution;
Normal distribution.
