Bridging Courses
Although there are no mandatory prerequisites for this exam, students are strongly recommended to take it after Integrated Geographical Databases.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Knowledge and understanding
The student will acquire the knowledge of the systems currently used in various fields of geomatics, understanding also the methodological bases.
Applaying knowledge and understanding
The course is strogly practical. The student will apply the knowledge propre during all stages of the course and the term will be able to implement all its skills.
Making judgements
The student will also be able to work on projects, developing skills that allow him/her to deal with unexpected situations and find original solutions.
Communication skills
The student will be able to communicate in different ways (reports, presentations, etc.) the results and synthesisof his/her work.
Learning skills
Since this branch of computer science applied to geosciences is constantly and rapidly changing, the student will be able to learn for themselves the new techniques and methodologies.Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Supporting Activities
Workshop and field trips.
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
Theory lectures, practical laboratory, both face-to-face and on-line, and field work.
- Attendance
Although recommended, course attendance is not mandatory.
- Course books
- Teaching overheads
- "Quantum GIS" [URL]
- "BeeGIS" [URL]
- "Il GPS per il Mapping GIS" [URL]
- Assessment
Individual project and oral exam.
The topic of the individual project has to be agreed with the instructor and it has to be delivered 7 days before examinations. The oral exam consists of a discussion on the project.
The final assesment will be determined by arithmetical mean by grade of the project and examination.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
Additional Information for Non-Attending Students
- Teaching
Not-attending students could ask for teaching overheads and a personal colloquy.
- Attendance
None.
- Course books
Teaching overheads.
Software manuals; Quantum GIS.
- Assessment
Individual project and face-to-face examination.
