This course aims to provide the conceptual and operational basis for the use of Geographic Information Systems, as well as to explain the problems of acquisition, maintenance and exchange of spatial data.

Bridging Courses
Although there are no mandatory prerequisites for this exam, students are strongly recommended to take it after Databases.
It is also worth noticing that the topics covered by this course will be used in Geomatics.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
- students must obtain a good ability to use the dedicated software and be able to independently develop a project on the types of exercises in the classroom.
- the student must be able to produce a report in electronic format (* .docx, * .pdf, * .pptx) with which communicate the results obtained from the development of the project realized.
- During the oral exam the student will have to explain, with the appropriate language, the development of the project and the results obtained.

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Theory lectures and laboratory exercises, both face-to face and on-line.

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
