Learning Objectives
The final aim of the course is to link basic science with the fundamental pathogenetic and pathophysiological mechanisms underlying disease.
Program
1. Cell injury, cell death and adaptations; 2. Inflammation and repair; 3. Hemodynamic Disorders, Thromboembolism and Shock; 4. Diseases of the immune system; 5. Neoplasia; 6. Genetic Disorders; 7. Environmental and Nutritional Diseases 8. Structure and function of blood vessels, blood pressure regulation, hypertensive vascular disease, atherosclerosis; 9. Heart; 10. Endocrine system.
Bridging Courses
Physiology is advised.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
When the course will be completed, the student should have knowledge and understanding of the molecular mechanisms responsible of the alteration of organs and systems during disease development: cell injury, inflammation and repair, neoplasia, genetic diseases.
