The course complements Analysis of drugs I and, for the contents and the manner of performing, is highly integrated with the course of Organic Chemistry I

Program

- State of matter and chemical-physical characteristics.

- Solubility, dissolution process, types of solvents, structure-solubility relationships, solubility assays, pKa, solubility in aqueous environment at varying pH.

- Determination of some physical-chemical constants: melting point, boiling point, melting point in the mixture

- Qualitative elemental analysis (carbon research, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, halogens)

- Analysis of recognition of metal-organic compounds.

- General essays and recognition of functional groups.

- Scheme for the systematic identification of an organic substance unknown.

- Determination of the loss on drying and determination of water content

- Structural determination of organic substances: elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and UV-vis spectrometry

- Applications, on organic substances, of the titration acid / base, argentometric, complexometric, redox, iodometric and diazotization. - Recognition Essays and purity of the leading pharmaceutical structures according to the monographs of F.U. and E.P.

Bridging Courses

To take the exam you must have passed the exam of General and Inorganic Chemistry

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment

Teaching

Lectures and individual laboratory exercises.

Attendance

The frequency of laboratory exercises is mandatory. To gain access to the laboratory is necessary to have passed the exam of General and Inorganic Chemistry and having attended the course of Drugs Analysis I

Course books

A. Carta, M.G. Mamolo, F. Novelli, S. Piras, Analisi Frmaceutica Qualitativa (Analisi qualitativa organica ed inorganica non strumentale), EdiSES ed.

Assessment

Oral examination, with the approval of the practical part of the workshop

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
