Learning Objectives
Lessons aim to develop: the knowledge about manuscripts production; printing birth; the evolution of printing technique and of typography books; printing production and its socio-cultural effects; the features of Italian publishing especially in 1800.
Program
During the course the following topics are considered. Transition from oral to written and print culture. Manuscripts production. Technical, social and cultural aspects of typography. Results of typographical production in the social context. The change of authorship, the role of publisher and other jobs inside typography. The Venetian production and the book trade in 1500. Development of Italian publishing in the following centuries. Publishers and readers in Italy during 1800. Changes of publishing in the last century and today.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
The student must know: the evolution of documents production; writing and printing materials; the typography technique in 1500 and its following evolution; relationship between printing production and socio-cultural changes; the features of Italian publishing and the circulation of books especially in 1800; the main peculiarity of today publishing. The student must know the specialized lexicon of the discipline.

Multiple choice test, in order to verify the knowledge of the topics, concepts and aspects considered during the lessons.

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Oral examination, in order to verify a clear knowledge and comprehension of the main topics of the discipline and, moreover, the mastery of its specialist lexicon.
