This course is entirely taught in Italian. Study materials can be provided in the foreign language and the final exam can be taken in the foreign language.

Learning Objectives

The course aims to bring students to anthropological knowledge of the subject of mobility of populations in the previous context to the formation of nations and in the current context transnational.

Program

The monographic course for students who attend will focus on the topics "Cultural exchanges and migration. From the example of the western Indian to the present day"; students will receive a syllabus with texts through which they can explore the themes of the course in English.

Bridging Courses

There are no prerequisites. It is important to know that training in this subject enables a broad vision about the diverse societies and the diversity of cultures in the world.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

- Knowledge in the field of anthropology of migration and refugee studies that go beyond the basic information;
- Theoretical knowledge on the most debated issues in the anthropological debate;
- Ability to read and understand correctly ethnographies in their meanings;
- Ability to apply knowledge of an ethnographic case.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Supporting Activities

During the semester a series of seminars are planned every year: "Seminar of Ethnology and Anthropology in honour of Margaret Mead and Elizabeth Colson" or "Seminars in Anthropology and History of Africa."  The seminars involve presentation of research carried out by researchers and professors from other universities. Students are strongly encouraged to participate.

The course will use the e-learning platform Moodle. It is strongly suggested that students acquire the institutional email which is essential to access the Moodle platform.

Teaching

Lectures and seminars. Students will receive a syllabus. Through the articles proposed they can explore the themes of the course in English. Some parts of the course will be seminars in which you students will present to the class. Those who attend can prepare essays on assigned topics as part of the examination.

Attendance

Those who attend at least 75% of the classes will study a book less, with the exception of textbooks. The attendance is verified through attendance signatures.

Assessment

Oral examination. The examination is to verify the ability to present complex issues exhaustively in oral form. If in the conditions you can take a written examination.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
