Learning Objectives

The course aims to address the reading of works of art made by Perugino (Pietro Vannucci) through the bond that binds its activities and the workshop with the Marche region through the analysis of two paintings to Fano and Senigallia between 1488 and 1497. The permanence of Perugino in the Brand produced a profound influence not only in artists working in that place, but also on subsequent generations: these considerations allow you to read in a new light the established relationship between the Vannucci and Giovanni Santi, the two major artists who worked in the decoration of Santa Maria Nuova in Fano, in the late 1488-1490. In those years, in fact, the master from Urbino was to paint the episode of the visitation, similar in size to the Annunciation built by Perugino between 1488 and 1490. Work closely together of the two masters leads, inevitably, to reflect on the formation of the young Raphael: Re-reading the story of Vasari, with a more critical eye, it is evident that a first contact with the artistic work of Vannucci may have occurred precisely in Fano, the Saints, wary of the gifted child, he used to take him along on his pictorial activity to better learn the craft. Through the reading of the paintings , the student must know to be able to distinguish the different artistic personalities.
