Learning Objectives

The apprenticeship’s experience is crucial for the preparation to the profession because it allows to combine the theoretical knowledges with the operating practices, using also own interpersonal skills. So the educational goal of the course is to prepare the students to face the apprenticeship equipping them with some tools useful to read and to explain the reality of the service with which they will come in contact, not only referring to the relationship with users, but also to the social network, to the community, and to public and private institutions. Moreover the course aims to consolidate some theoretical and methodological knowledges essential to the practice of the profession. Particular attention is paid on ethical issues, such as fundamentals and essential guide for the professional behavior. During the class practical cases are proposed  to learn how to decode and comply to the situation of need, by using the acquired theoretical knowledge, with particular attention to own experiences in relation to each different situation.

Program

Focus on the main phases of the methodological process of help linked to the proposed practical cases.

Theoretical reinforcement and application of tools and techniques of the Professional Social Service.

Depth analysis of the ethical aspects and of the related professional task about the individual, the community, the others professionals, the organization, and the profession.

Analysis of legal liability connected to the professional behavior, also in relation to professional, institutional and social tasks.

Personal and/or teamwork composition about the situation exhibited and debated in classroom are required.

Bridging Courses

In order to attend the course is recommended to take the following exams: Principles and foundation of the Social Service, Methods and Techniques of the Social Service.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Ability to perform the analyses and the comprehension of the different situations of need: individual, group and community.

Ability to adopt the knowledges of the Professional Social Service in favor of people, groups, community and institutions.

Ability to decode personal emotional experiences in relation to the practical cases proposed.       

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Simulation of situations of need and practice exercises.

Classes, debates and teamwork, practice exercises and simulations.

Attendance

Compulsory attendence: almost 2/3 of the course’s hours. Individual studying of the material.

Oral exam about the material specified.

Could be required the presentation of a composition about a theme established by the teacher during the class.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
