Learning Objectives

The course focuses on family studies from a social psychology perspective. In particular it provides students with tools to understand the family and parenting changes in the late modernity societies . The increasing diversity of family forms will be analyzed from the theoretical perspective of the difference that rejects the normative vision of the nuclear family as the only reference model and recognizes the specific processes and modes of operation of the different family models.

Program

The course will address the following issues : the socio-demographic and family life changes; the systemic approach and the recent theoretical developments in social psychology of family relationships ; parenting in late modernity societies; different family models ; instability of the couple and the management of parental conflict .

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

The course aims to promote knowledge of some discilpline key concepts. It is also promoted the capability to identify connections with other disciplines (sociology, history, law, anthropology), to apply the knowledge learned in contexts of students' experience with particular reference to their future professional role.

Students should attend course and active education laboratories based on documents provided by the professor.

Assessment

Oral examination. If the number of enrolled students will be higher than 25, the exam will be written.

The course is organized in two parts. For 2016-2017, the lecturer of the first part is Isabella Quadrelli, the lecturer of the second part is Alessandra Vincenti. Social psychology and group I / II is an integrated course . The examination will take place with both teachers who express a separate evalution for the two parts of the course . The final evalution is calculated by averaging the two parts

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
