Learning Objectives

The course aims to provide students with the fundamental concepts of clinical psychology, especially in the meeting and the intersubjective construction of different modalities of aid, implemented through the peculiar way of working the clinical psychologist. It is proposed to facilitate the student to understand the value of subjectivity, the interpersonal sense of every clinical act, contributing to the development of a critical and at the same time proactive attitude, indispensable for those who want to get used to thinking about the various facets that the panorama of contemporary clinical psychology offers us. Attention will be paid to the growing need to explain the complex phenomena observable in the clinic through increasingly less sectoral theories, capable of dialogue with historically distant approaches, such as cognitivism, psychoanalysis, phenomenological psychopathology.

Program

The first part of the programme will be devoted to the development of important issues for clinical practice, especially in the diagnosis, with the exposure of the basic elements that allow to perform the diagnostic act. In particular, the specific modalities of diagnosing the clinical psychologist and other professional figures will be treated. The second part of the programme will focus on the description of the most common clinical pictures. The third part of the program will be dedicated to exploring the theory of attachment and clinical cognitivism, from its birth to the development of modern perspectives.
