Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide the student
- scientific support - anthropological, biological, cultural - essential to the understanding of the mechanisms that govern the historical languages, with special reference to Italian;
- the theoretical basis of linguistic discipline, and the specific analytical method that enables them to recognize and describe the universal characteristics of human communication, including textual mechanisms
- knowledge of different branches of historical linguistics as the study of cultural and environmental changes through the study of linguistic forms

The program will have the following trends:
1. Linguistics as science (12 hours)

2. The structure of human languages ??(12 hours)
- specific characteristics and differences from animal languages
- Darwinian evolution and homo sapiens
- sounds of language: phonetics and phonology
- the construction of the words: morphology universal structure

- the construction of meaning: the universal structure of the semantics
- mind, brain, language: physiology and pathology linguistic linguistics
- Noam Chomsky and Universal Grammar
- concept maps as a predictive text tool and mental organization
3. History of linguistics (12 hours)

The student must show
- mastery of scientific terminology and its specific use
- knowledge of the stages of linguistic thought
- knowledge of the structures of language and ability to analyze it using the methods of the discipline
- mastery of the basic concepts of the theory of language, also as a result of self-observation reached capacity as speaker / listener

Ongoing testing of products Cmaps few days before the official practice esame.I products are evaluated with a score from 1 to 4 to add to the score of the official written test only if not less than 18Esame as a 30 questions quiz closed questions, the results of which will give the measure of learning; this will add to the assessment of the work on the conceptual maps, which can measure both learning content from the student is its ability to elaborazione.Al vote of the quiz (1 correct answer = 1 point) will add to the vote on maps.examination: 30 closed questions testing.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

- Assessment

The exam will be held through an individual interview based on textbooks suggested. The aim is to evaluate both student's comprehension of the content and his ability in reworking concepts and in argumenting. It is possibile to present a written document on a topic agreed with the teacher.
Excellent grades will be given in presence of: a good critical perspective and in depth study; knowing how to link among them the main subjects addressed during the course; the use of an appropriate language.
Good grades will be given in presence of: good mnemonic knowledge of the contents; a relatively good critical perspective and connection skills related to the treated topics; the use of appropriate language.
Sufficient grades will be given in presence of: the achievement of a minimal knowledge on the treated themes, even in presence of some gaps; the use of a not appropriate language.
Negative grades will be given in presence of: a difficult orientation related to the the treated topics; knowledge gaps; the use of a not appropriate language.

Notes
The written test, compulsory for the attendants, can be supported with the other (9am) for the student's CHOICE, and will be tested as a substitute for the ORAL SUBSTITUTION.
