Learning Objectives

The course of Philosophy of Culture aims to outline and to analyze analytically the Classical / Contemporary relationship between culture, philosophy, politics and critical theory of society through the great lesson of Niccolò Machiavelli, Miguel Abensour and Jürgen Habermas.

Program

• Classic / Contemporary. Between philosophy, politics and literature.

• Machiavelli between culture, philosophy, history and politics.

• Miguel Abensour, Machiavelli and Critical Political Philosophy.

• The first Habermas. Critical theory, classics and contemporaneity.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

With regards to the discipline, the student has to show the possession of:

  • the mastery of basic knowledge;
  • the understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline;
  • the capacity of using skills and concepts according to the logic of the discipline.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Supporting Activities

Integrative interdisciplinary workshops will be held by Professor Antonio De Simone during the course. Additional practical classes will be provided by Davide D'Alessandro, Angela D'Ascoli and Alberto Simonetti. There is a didactic-cultural event.

Oral exam.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
