Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide;
- knowledge on the major determinants which can exert a significant effect on human health and infectious and non-infectious diseases also with the aid of approaches to molecular epidemiology; the acquisition of knowledge of the effective means for the prevention of major infectious and non-infectious disease for the promotion of health of the individual and the community;
- knowledge of effective elements in promoting health education particularly addressed to the pharmaco-epidemiology, pharmaco-vigilance and those concerning the new services provided by pharmacies within in the SSN;
- knowledge on the implementation of education programs health and prevention campaigns using the self-test available in pharmacies;
- the acquisition of the ability to provide the correct health information regarding the use of curative and preventive drugs, cosmetics, herbal and dietary products;
- knowledge of techniques relating to the hygienic-sanitary control of laboratory for magisterial and officinal galenic preparations.
- Moreover students should be able to apply the basic concepts of hygiene in the profession of pharmacist, and in general for the prevention of diseases, improving health and safety in the workplace.
Program
- Hygiene goal. Diseases and health. Demography and health.
- Health statistical concepts applied to the frequency measures of health events through epidemiological quotients.
- The validity of analytical tests.
- Epidemiology and prevention of chronic degenerative diseases. Biological markers. Epidemiology predictive: genetic and genomic tests.(Few notes).
- Epidemiology of trasmissible diseases: the routes of transmission, infection sources, pathways and routes of elimination. Health care infection.
- Iindirect (environmental) and direct prophylaxis of trasmissible diseases: complaint, isolation and diagnostic tests; disinfection, sterilization and asepsis; batteriofagia and decontamination; disinfestation. Self-control system for safety in laboratories. Hygiene in the laboratory for preparation officinal and galenic products.
- Specific prophylaxis: pharmacological prevention, serum prophylaxis and vaccine prophylaxis.
- Pharmacovigilance adverse effects.Healing vaccines and biosimilar medicines.
- Epidemiology and prevention of trasmissible diseases. Orofecal mainly rout trasmissible diseases. Airborne mainly trasmissible diseases. Parenteral and/or sexual trasmissible diseases.
- Vector-borne diseases. Zoonoses. Ectoparasitoses. Mycosis.
- Food hygiene: infections, toxicinfections and food poisoning. Hygienic conservation. Spring and mineral waters.Information and allert systems for consumers.
- Hygienic environment: water hygiene; air pollution and the risk factors for infectious and non-infectious diseases; microclimate which cause well-being and disease.
- Sanitary waste.
- Hygiene and safety in the workplace. The main regulations of interests for the protection of health and safety in the workplace. Notion of technical spa care.
- Hygiene and safety in the workplace. The main regulations of interests for the protection of health.
- The health care organization in Italy and in the world. The new essential levels of assistance (LEA). The new services provided by pharmacies as part of the SSN. The pharmacy prevention through self-analysis systems.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
- D1-KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING The student must demonstrate that they have acquired the knowledge concerning: the general principles of hygiene; the positive and negative determinants of health; methods of prevention; environmental hygiene and reflections on health; safety at work; the essential levels of care in the SSN and the new services provided in pharmacies.
- D2-APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING The student will demonstrate the ability to recognize the methodologies for the analysis and control of the hygienic quality of the environmental built and not, and food and in particular the methodologies for the quality control, hygiene and safety in preparation and research laboratories.
- D3-JUDGEMENT The student will have acquired knowledge to enable him to assess and interpret data from epidemiological studies, the experimental values of laboratory, to evaluate the safety in the workplace proposing preventive and corrective actions.
- D4-COMMUNICATION SKILLS The student must demonstrate that they have the ability to transfer in the workplace and not the knowledge gained through relevant terminology to the health in relation to the issues of prevention and health promotion.
- D5-LEARNING SKILLS The student will be able to examine and understand the reference material useful for the profession and for research.

Supporting Activities
The educational material will be distributed through the Moodle platform (Blended Learning Uniurb) in the manner decided by the teacher. Be given directions on how reperirele bibliographic sources to deepen the individual topics and italian legislative reference.

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
