Learning Objectives
The workshop aims at improving the students' knowledge of the English language in order to teach and communicate with primary school children through the use of children's literature.
Program
The activities will be organised around the book: The Jolly Postman or Other People's Letters by Janet and Allan Ahlberg (students must obtain the book before the start of the workshop).
During lessons focus will be made on reading and writing skills, grammar, listening and pronunciation which are all fundamental in preparing students to teach English to primary school children.
Description of each activity:
Lesson I - Introduction to the book and reading of the text. Listening and comprehension activities. Students will learn to write in a simple way appropriate to children.
Lesson II - Practical activities focusing on the comprehension of vocabulary and writing practice.
Lesson III – Pronunciation practice through the personalisation of the story.
Lesson IV – Preparation and practice for the final assessment.
Lesson V - Final Assessment – Practical application of the language.
