This course is entirely taught in Italian. Study materials can be provided in the foreign language and the final exam can be taken in the foreign language.

Learning Objectives

The aim of the Course is to lead the students to understand how Europe has always been characterizzed both in the past and present by the existence of a Plurilinguism, which goes definately overcovering the most well-known Romance Languages.

Program

Contents: Romance Linguistics, Romance Philology.  The vocabulary from Latin to the Romance languages, French, Spanish, Italian. Romance languages in the Western and Eastern Romània. The Linguistic “Inter-comprehension” in the Romance world in the past and in the present.

Objectives (Dublin descriptors):

Students must demonstrate athe knowledge of the evolution that from Latin goes to the Plurilinguism of the Romance area in historical and comparative perspectives, and the comprehensionan undestanding that all the languages, regardless of whether they are national languages, official languages or dialects, have equal dignity.

Students are required to be able to apply their knowledge and understanding, and problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments, within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study.

Course books

Texts: attending students are expected to know read and understand the bibliography recommended by the Professor, and erogated byuploaded to Moodle.

A reading for all the students: L.Renzi, Come cambia la lingua, Bologna, Il Mulino, 2016.

For those who want a bibliography in English, French and or Spanish please contact the professor during office hours.

Assessment

Written text in Italian Language.

Verbal examination in a foreign Language.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Additional Information for Non-Attending Students

For those who want a bibliography in English, French and or Spanish please contact the professor during office hours.

For the written text, non- attending students  are expected to knowread and understand: P.Beltrami, La filologia romanza, Bologna, Il mulino, 2017 and  di E.Banfi - N.Grandi, Lingue d'Europa. Elementi di storia e di tipologia linguistica, Roma, Carocci, 2018 ( 1-2-3 and 4,1 4,2 e 4,3).
