Learning Objectives

The main objective of the course is to provide the basic method and technique to design the rural constructions necessary for agricultural activity.  
The equally important secondary objective is to provide design criteria for the agroforestry territory, which is now recognized as multifunctional, including the concept of the scenic aspect of its landscape.
At the end of the course the student will know the various types of rural residential, livestock and agricultural industries. 
The student will be able to: 
- draw up the design drawings of residential buildings also aimed at recovery for rural tourism, livestock constructions for livestock breeding, greenhouses for protected cultivation, small agricultural industries.
 

Program

Building in agroforestry lands: multifunctionality. 
Notes on the scenic aspects of the landscape. 
Traditional rural building typologies in relation to the territory.
Building materials in rural buildings: bricks in vertical and horizontal structures, mortars, concrete and wood in the building organism. 
Building materials in rural construction: reinforced concrete and steel in the building organism. 
Soil loading. Types of foundations. 
Water system, electrical system.
Rural building materials: plastics, glass, insulation. 
Types of greenhouses. 
Prefabricated structures.
Graphic drawings of the design of residential buildings. 
CAD design exercise: renovation of a rural building for agritourism. 
CAD design tutorial: permanent greenhouses. 
Types of agricultural buildings for livestock farms. 
CAD design exercise: barn design for cattle 
Agricultural industries: dairies, oil mills, wine industry. 
CAD design exercise: honey mill project 
Standards for landscape protection. 
Urban Planning Regulations 
General Regulatory Plan Tools: graphic drawings, technical implementation standards. 
Online PRG tutorial.

Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course, students will have to know the main types of rural constructions necessary for the productive activity of farms. 
Applying knowledge and understanding 
Students should be able to adopt the fundamental concepts acquired during the course to apply them in the design of rural buildings in a team with the other necessary professionals. 
Making judgements
At the end of the course, students should have acquired a good ability to analyze the topics covered and to make a critical evaluation of the impact of a rural building project on the landscape.  
Communication skills 
Students will be able to communicate the concepts and knowledge learned during the course in a clear, precise way and with a vocabulary common to other technical professions operating in rural construction. Learning skills 
Students must have acquired the ability to undertake subsequent courses of study and/or to acquire new knowledge, skills and abilities through professional and work experiences in rural areas.
