Learning Objectives
LISTENING comprehension
Acquire a high level of oral comprehension and the ability to take complete and relevant notes (prise de notes).
ORAL PRODUCTION
- Learn to give an oral presentation with complete awareness of verbal and non-verbal language used
- Easily express a detailed point of view clearly and coherently.
- Ability to respond to questions regarding the topics dealt with in class and discuss them fluently.
Program
LISTENING COMPRENSION
Students will listen to a variety of audio and video texts and train their listening by completing open questions (intensive listening) or taking notes (extensive listening). Finally they will write up a text in which the main points they heard are summed up.
The lessons will take place in the language lab. A different listening text will be presented each week.
Main themes of the listening texts: economy, current affairs, tourism, marketing, soft skills, comunciation strategies, travel and culture.
ORAL PRODUCTION
- Verbal and non verbal language
- Discourse structure: introduction, development, conclusion
- Language registers

Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the language assistant in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the language assistant specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Exam structure:
Listening: Students will listen to a recording of 3-4 minutes and then answer open questions and write a brief summary of the listening text [Time: 1 hour]
Oral test: an argumentative discussion based on an article presented by the professor.
How the test takes place: The student must read the article shown by the professor and then present the article as well as give a personal opinion about it. The presentation must have an introduction, the development of 3 or 4 key points, and a conclusion. This will then be followed by a brief discussion of the topic. The student will have 20 minutes to read the article and plan the presentation. He/she will then be asked to give a cohesive and coherent presentation
