Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. The course will focus on a variety of reading texts taken from B2 level sources.

Second Semester Reading Comprehension

The course will focus on a variety of reading texts taken from B2 and C1 level sources.

English Vocabulary in Use (Pre-intermediate and intermediate)

 First and Second Semester Writing

Four main types of writing will be taught and practiced.

Expository, descriptive, persuasive and narrative writing.

Writing topics include – University- Travel- Money- Music- Books reviews- The media -Special occasions- Health and fitness- Dreams- Rules and regulations- Recent and past experience- Stories- Famous people-The Internet-Inventions- Requests- Complaints- Interpreting data.

First Semester Listening and Speaking

Listening skills will be taught and practiced by using listening material from various sources at B2 level.

The programme includes the following films:

Billy Elliot. Directed by Stephen Daldry- 2000

The Internship. Directed by Shawn Levy – 2013

 A Street Cat Named Bob. Directed by Roger Spottiswoode - 2016

The historical and cultural background, vocabulary and idiomatic phrases from the films will be studied.

 All communication is carried out in English and students will be required to take part in discussions, presentations and role play exercises.
