In compliance with the CEFR reaching level A1 enables one to satisfy basic communication requirements within a limited number of everyday situations (at the shops, the post office, the bank, the restaurant, the library, the doctor’s, etc.) and to acquire the abilities needed in order to carry out certain communicative acts such as coming into contact with someone, introducing oneself and others (and expressing greetings, congratulations, apologies); asking and answering questions about an event, person or object (in terms of presence or absence, location in space and time, and general characteristics); expressing desires, requests, invitations, proposals, agreement and disagreement and refusal as well as ?valuating a person, object or action. The minimum vocabulary required is 780 lexical units.
