Learning Objectives

The course aims to improve students’ expressive faculties. The base are reading high-level texts (newspaper articles, scientific-cultural-historical-biographical and literary essays, short excerpts from literature, as well as summaries of films and literary works) and listening to or viewing material of the same level (current events, videos or films of historical and cultural interest).

In addition to reading and listening/watching, the course includes numerous exercises not only to improve the understanding but also to deepen the lexical and stylistic competence of students, who have to produce independently texts on the topics presented reusing the material distributed.

Through the correction of the participants' papers, the course provides for a repetition of the grammar (declension, passive, word order, ...) and introduces or deepens the grammatical themes of "Konjunktiv 1", prepositions with genitive, expression structures with complex secondary sentences, with participial expressions and with omissions.

Thanks to the preparation of the topics and of the grammatical and stylistic corrections, will be achieved a perceptible improvement in the expressive and understanding faculties of the participants.

literature course (Bay)

The course is an additional offer to the German C1 Lin-OC course by dottoressa Isabel Raspa Fütterer. The weekly lesson is designed as a literature course. During each semester a book by a German author in the original language will be read. The topics covered in the books are related to the topics of Professor Raspa Fütterer's lecture notes.

Program

The course deals with the path of Germany after the Second World War, specifically with the first years after the war, the economic miracle, the construction of the Wall and the division of Germany, the fall of the Wall and with the problems of reunification as well as with the latest political developments in Germany (elections of the year 2019). In addition to historical and political developments, it also takes into account culture, everyday life and the problem of repression and remembrance, that is, of the psychological level that unites facticity with experience. To illustrate the problem, the following films will be viewed: "Deutschland im Jahre Null", "Goodbye Lenin", "Eins, zwei, drei", "Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer", "Das Leben der Anderen" and "Das Wunder von Bern".

The course is based on the material available at the photocopy shop "l'asterisco" in Urbino.

literature course (Bay)

During the first semester we read the book "Trümmerkind" by Mechthild Borrmann. The yellow, based on historical events, tells the story of two German families in the years after the Second World War. By reading, students will learn and amplify their vocabulary and by working on authentic texts they enrich their knowledge of the German language.

2nd semester:  Students read Wladimir Kaminer's book "Russendisko" in which the author describes his impressions of Germany to which he moved in the years after the collapse of the wall.
