Learning Objectives

The course includes 80 hours per year and aims to acquire the B2 level of linguistic competence (QCER) by developing communication skills (active and passive) related to the Arabic language, in addition to in-depth reading skills, oral and written understanding, oral and written production.

At the end of the course, students can:

Understand and analyze complex texts covering a wide range of topics; produce and argue articulated pieces, summaries; understand the content of oral documents and discuss them; watch films in the language; talk and interact with ease and intervene on cultural issues peculiar to the Arab world from an intercultural perspective.

Authentic paper and visual audio documents will be used: songs and video clips, documentaries, films, advertisements, television or radio programs, literary texts, written and radio printing (articles, newspaper sites, television channels), functional documents (programs, modulations, etc. Games. Online learning sites will also be consulted.

Program

  • modern means of communication (how to use your mobile phone in an Arab country, internet use)

  • the biography: to share his own life and that of a famous persons

  • Write your resume in Arabic

    - Religious and civil holidays

  • The condition of the Arab woman through the reading of articles and literary texts (Nizar Qabbani, Nawal Sadawi, Tahar Haddad, Ahmad Amin)

  • Traditions and rites: birth, marriage, death

  • The Arab proverbs

  • Arabic music

  • Media and information (the journalistic article and the 5 'w')

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the language assistant in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the language assistant specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
