Learning Objectives

Methods and techniques of quantitative research and qualitative research will be introduced. Particular emphasis will also be placed on the integration of qualitative-quantitative methods and techniques, with the analysis of the epistemological implications. On the practical side, students will be invited to identify the most suitable research strategies and tools for specific purposes, developing the knowledge of possible operational tools

Program

The course will be divided into a theoretical part and a practical part.

The first will concern the theoretical foundations of quantitative analysis, with reference to the epistemological assumptions and elements of distinction from quanlitative analysis, as well as the implications. In addition, the research areas most affected by the developments of psychological and psycho-social analysis will be presented.

The most popular research strategies, tools and analysis models will be presented

  (in particular: content analysis, linguistic-textual analysis, factor analysis of correspondences, conversational analysis, interview, focus group); in addition, the main software dedicated to supporting research will be presented.

   For three-year degrees: In relation to (teaching) the student must show possession: - the mastery of basic knowledge; - understanding the fundamental concepts of the discipline; - the ability to use knowledge and concepts to reason according to the logic of the discipline.
