Learning Objectives

The course aims to analyze the assessment procedure in the forensic field, highlighting differences and synergies with the clinical field, focusing on how evaluation is a complex  and  multi-method process. The various diagnostic tools will then be analyzed, from the interview to the observation, as well as the test instruments mainly used in the forensic field, whose specificities will be presented, both in terms of administration and interpretation, related to the forensic context.

During the lessons there will be the presentation of cases and expert reports, as well as meetings with some specialized professionals on some psychodiagnostic investigation tools.

1.  Background on forensic assessment

2.  The writing of the psychodiagnostic report. The relationship with the OTC and the Judicial Authority at the beginning and at the end of the assessment

3.  Purpose and methodology of forensic evaluation and differences with the clinical field

4.  The clinical-forensic interview

5.  The observation

6.  Projective tools in the forensic field

7.  Personality questionnaires

8.  The Rorschach test

9.  The MMPI-2 and MMPI-2 RF test

10.     Graphic tests on children

11.     The Blacky Test

12.     The Wartegg Test

First week. Presentation of the course and exam methods. Introduction  to the assessment  and specificity of the expert context with respect to the clinical context.

Second week. In-depth study on how to write a psychodiagnostic report

Terza week. The clinical-forensic interview

Fourth week.  The importance of observation in forensic evaluation

Fifth week. The Rorschach test

Sixth week. The Minnesota  Multiphasic  Personality  Inventory  2 and Revised Form

Seventh week. Presentation of graphic tests in the evaluation of children in the forensic field.

Eighth week. The  Blacky  Pictures test

Ninth week. The  Wartegg Test. Further information about exam.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

In relation to the course,  the student must show possession of:

- mastery of the knowledge of specialist disciplines;

- understanding of the advanced concepts of the discipline;

- the ability to use knowledge and concepts to reason independently on the problems of the discipline.

Lectures, case discussions and simulations; meetings with operators and experts.

During the lessons there will be discussion of cases and psychodagnostic reports.

Additional materials on specific topics during the course will also be indicated and will be made available by the teacher on the course page.

Assessment

Oral exam. A specific and in-depth knowledge of the topics is required, as well as the acquisition of an appropriate and specialized language.

The ability to critically rework the contents will be evaluated, the deepening on the methodological level, with particular reference to the ability to identify resources and criticality of the assessment tools in relation to the variables to be evaluated in the different judicial contexts.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
