Learning Objectives

Acquisition of fundamental and advanced notions about Dante's corpus. Acquisition of stylistic and rhetorical tools useful for the correct reading of medieval poetry. Systematic reading of the Comedy, in particular of the 'metapoetic' chants of all three canticles from a textual point of view and from a historical-critical point of view. Complete reading of Vita nova. The methodological tools suitable for the correct historical and chronological contextualization of Dante's masterpiece will also be provided.

Program

Reading, paraphrasing, thematic, stylistic, metric and rhetorical analysis of the songs in which a history of the poetics of all three canticles is outlined. They will be analyzed in the particular key of the author's literary ideology, which expands to complex and problematic elements with respect to the statements of poetics that are read in the youth booklet.  Complete reading of Vita nova. Repeated comparisons with other Dante texts will be established.
