Learning Objectives

At the end of the course the student should be able to know the theoretical bases and the doctrinal aspects of the geography of tourism and to describe the most recent orientations in research in the geography of tourism, with particular reference to the territorial and socio-economic aspects.
As regards the improvement of comprehension skills, students should be able to use the vocabulary of the tourist phenomenon and apply the quantitative and qualitative research methodologies for the evaluation of the phenomenon.

Program

The course aims to make students acquire knowledge of the tourist phenomenon in its various aspects. The desire to discover has induced human beings to move for different reasons: knowledge, faith, culture, health, fun. Different purposes, types and ways of moving through time and space have marked landscapes, relationships, cultures, art, economics, forms of relationships.
The course will try to understand how tourism is therefore not only a relevant phenomenon from an economic point of view, but as a moment of encounter and interrelation between different cultures.
