Learning Objectives

The course objective is to give the complete knowledge about the up-to date tools and strategies used to assess the physical fitness components and their applications in sports setting. The course will include both theorical and practical applications of physical fitness assement in sports setting.

In particular, the course objectives are to know and understand:

  • the issues related to physical fitness assessment and its application both in amateur and top level sports, and in different age groups or populations;
  • how to choose and perform physical fitness assessment in sport;
  • how to perform assessments in both lab and in field setting;
  • how to interpret to understand the results of the tests and their application in exercise prescription.

At the end of the course the students will have to show that they have the following knowledges and skills:

  • to know the characteristics of different sports about performance and functional evaluation
  • to know how to propose and to manage assessment programs
  • to analyze and to explain the evaluation tests results
  • to do the practical applications for training programs
  • to know how to show the tests execution
  • to sustain athletes and coaches in training programs
  • to know how to stay up-date and select the new tools and tests in sport assessment

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
