Learning Objectives
Comprehension (written and oral)
• At the end of the course, students can understand a wide range of long, complex texts (literary, philosophical or scientific) and grasp their implicit meanings.
• They will be able to follow speeches of a certain length (television, radio or film) on abstract and/or complex topics, and recognise most idiomatic and colloquial expressions, as well as different language registers.
Production (written and oral)
• Students will be able to defend a point of view and express themselves clearly and precisely with a level of language appropriate to the situation of enunciation, learning in particular the technique of essai. They will be able to produce a structured piece of writing based on a logical and effective plan that helps the reader to identify the main points.
• They will learn to debate, presenting their opinions and comparing them with those of others. They will know how to respect the communicative rules of debate in order to obtain and keep the floor or gain time in formulating a response.
Program
• Through topical themes chosen by the teacher and the students, reflection and argumentation tasks designed for the preparation of the examination papers (essai argumentatif, exposé and debate) will be carried out.
• Special attention will be paid to perfecting francophone culture and vocabulary through the analysis of songs, press articles, statistics, photos, radio and television programmes, as well as creative exercises on different registers and figures of style.
• In order to improve phonetics, a series of readings extracted from Francophone novels will be undertaken to work on pronunciation, articulation, accentuation, intonation.
• Finally, we will work on the methodology of examination tests by means of written and oral exercises.
