Learning Objectives
The student is called to learn the fundamentals of signal processing techniques in order to appreciate the processing that is used for the detection of gravitational waves within the Virgo and Ligo experiments.
Program
- Time domain signal processing
- Fourier transform and signal processing in the frequency domain (filters)
- The sampling process
- Data processing pipeline for real-time detection of gravitational waves within the Virgo/Ligo experiment
