Learning Objectives

Communication between men is increasingly mediated by interactive cognitive artifacts. This transformation involves even radical changes in cognitive behaviour, individual lifestyles and in social relationships, producing new phenomena of aggregation or disintegration and social isolation.

The course lays the foundations for the ergonomic design of objects, tools, cognitive artifacts and information appliances.

Particular attention will be paid to the methods of designing and developing interfaces that make communication between actors easy and effective.

The knowledge acquired in the course is aimed at building the ability to use and consciously design information and communication technologies.

Program

The course will present the fundamentals of the production of interactive artifacts, and will focus on production strategies and practices. Techniques for visualization, drawing, animation, ideation, information architecture will be illustrated and exemplified through classroom exercises.

The course will be organized in theoretical presentations and practical exercises during which the student will have the opportunity to get to know and experiment with the methods of designing and creating interactive artefacts.

The goal is to familiarize the student with the culture and interactive skills; and to exercise these skills in order to incorporate them into the production of interactive artifacts.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Knowledge and understanding (knowledge and understanding):

The student must demonstrate a good knowledge of the course topics indicated in the program; you will need to demonstrate the ability to understand the principles and methods of designing interactive digital artefacts.

Applying knowledge and understanding (applying knowledge and understanding)

The student will have to demonstrate that he can interpret and apply his knowledge in the design of interactive digital artefacts.

Autonomy of judgment (making judgements).

At the end of the course, the student will have to demonstrate the ability to evaluate the quality of digital interactive artifacts and design methods.

Communication skills (communication skills).

At the end of the course, the student will have to demonstrate to communicate the main topics of the course.

Ability to learn (learning skills).

The student has acquired a method of learning the notions and techniques he needs to create content completely and autonomously. They can learn on their own by identifying the resources he finds on the net. They can identify new sources that can allow them to update and learn.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment

Teaching

The course will be organized in theoretical presentations and practical exercises during which the student will have the opportunity to get to know and experiment with the methods of designing and creating interactive artefacts.

Course books

The teaching material will be announced later.

Assessment

The exam consists of the production and presentation of interactive artifacts (e.g. information systems, websites, interactive systems for teaching or for commerce, etc.). Students will be able to propose their own projects for the exam and agree on the content with the teacher.

The evaluation will be carried out both on the basis of the presentation and final discussion of the project and of an individual interview aimed at evaluating the acquisition of the theoretical and practical foundations. During the course, the student will have to present intermediate documents (e.g. scenarios, personas, etc.).

The final presentation and discussion assign a maximum score of 30/30 cum laude. Intermediate papers contribute to the final presentation.

Notes

This course is part of another course (Semantic Web). To receive the full grade for the main course, a student must complete both courses (Interaction Design & Semantic Web).
Student final evaluation is based on the grades received in both courses.
