Learning Objectives
The course aims at introducing students to the analysis of specialized texts in Spanish language, and their translation to Italian. During the lectures and classroom exercises, central topics in Text Linguistics and Specialized Translation will be described in order to encourage students' acquisition and strengthening of meta-translation skills, as well as practical-instrumental skills linked to the translation process. The use of a contrastive methodology will allow the development of reflections on linguistic and cultural aspects inherent to both Source and Target context.
Program
The course explores the major issues in Text Linguistics and Discourse Analysis focusing on specialized text and languages in Spanish, and providing basic tools of specialized translation.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
- Knowledge and understanding: at the end of the course, students will recognize, analyze and translate different types of text.
- Applying knowledge and understanding: students will be able to recognize and reproduce different text structures, in addition to the basic notions of specialized translation, developing and strengthening, even independently, their interpretative, analytical and translation skills. The lectures and classroom exercises will therefore be aimed at in-depth study of the mentioned aspects.
- Making judgements: students will be able to evaluate their own knowledge, demonstrating that they can make up for any shortcomings, even autonomously.
- Communication skills: students will be able to produce written and oral texts in Spanish in a clear and effective way, arguing in a complete and adequate way the theoretical aspects considered and the application choices, expressing the personal point of view about it.

- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
