Learning Objectives

The course will address issues aimed at providing sufficient knowledge to correctly activate and manage first aid in various situations that may concern work environments, recreational gatherings, etc.

First aid is the help given to one or more people while waiting for a doctor or qualified personnel
and is aimed at:
- Avoid worsening the conditions of the injured person
- Protect the injured person from further risks
- Promote their survival

Program

1. Health and prevention according to WHO lines
2. Notes on Anatomy and Physiology
2.1 Areas of the human body: the spine, body cavities
2.2 Main organs: location and their functioning, the vital organs

3. Basic Techniques for Resuscitation
3.1 CPR, BLS, BLSD,
3.2 Operational protocols

4. Traumatic Injuries
4.1 Hemorrhages, Shock
4.2 Wounds, fractures, contusions, dislocations,
4.3 Head trauma, spinal injuries
4.4 Damage to the sense organs

5. Environmental emergencies
5.1 Burns
5.2 Poisonings
5.3 Heat, cold, ice water

6. First aid in case of road accidents and road trauma.
6.1 rescue in the event of a car accident
6.2 maneuvers for moving and repositioning the injured person
6.3 Removing the helmet in an injured person

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

At the end of the course the student will have to demonstrate that::

  • Knowledge and understanding: be able to understand the specific terminology relating to human anatomy and basic medicine, be able to interpret the indications provided by the 118 operator. 
  • Applying knowledge and understanding: They must also be able to apply this knowledge in the practical field.
  • -Autonomy of judgment (making judgements) The student must be able to apply the methodologies and techniques in a simulation of a rescue situation.
  •  Communication skills: The student must have the ability to communicate their knowledge correctly and specifically, even in written form.
  • Ability to learn (learning skills). you must be able to find information and knowledge independently using sector publications.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Teaching

The teaching will be structured over a total of 42 hours (6 CFU)
The lessons can be frontal or practical with group work, exercises and simulations, in order to delve deeper and experiment with the topics covered.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
